When trying to download, install, or update apps from the Apple app store, you are prompted for the password to an Apple ID that is not your own; for example, "firstname.lastname@example.org" or "email@example.com".
- Open the App Store app on your Mac.
- Click the Store menu at the top of the screen and choose Sign Out.
- Click Store again and choose Sign In, then sign in with your own Apple ID.
Note: LITS recommends creating a new Apple ID with your college email address for use on your faculty or staff workstation to help keep your personal and professional data and purchases separate.
Previously, LITS managed all Apple devices with a shared Apple ID. This practice is no longer used and the accounts that were used are no longer active.
