A quick update; email verification for MFA should now be functional again. You can now use email verification to log into your account. If you have trouble with your alternate email address receiving MFA messages, please email support@beloit.edu.
Additionally, we have received questions regarding departmental, or "coterie" accounts and MFA.
- Individual faculty, staff, and student accounts ending in @beloit.edu must set up and use MFA to log into their accounts.
- Departmental (coterie) or shared accounts, and accounts ending in @alumni.beloit.edu or @emeriti.beloit.edu only need to set up security questions. MFA is not required to log in.
For more information about logging into departmental or coterie accounts, see this support article.

We would like to provide some additional information on the new login process and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
MFA Email verification
Some users are not receiving a verification code at their alternate email address during MFA verification. LITS is investigating this issue, but in the meantime, you should use one of your other MFA verification options (security questions or SMS, Google Authenticator, etc.) to log into your account.
Trusting your device
When logging in to your account from a device or location that you have not logged in from before, you will be prompted for MFA verification (you'll need to answer security questions or enter an SMS or email verification code). During this prompt, you can check the Trust this device option to prevent this second verification step during every login. You will still be prompted when logging in from a new location or device, or once every 30 days, but not during each log in.
It's also important to note that some browser plugins designed to protect your security or anonymity, apps such as a VPN, or actions such as clearing your browser cache, can make your device appear different - so these situations may cause MFA verification during each log in.
Here is where to find the option:
Unusual Sign-in activity messages
Any time you log in and are prompted to use MFA, you will receive a message from noreply@beloit.edu with the subject "Unusual Sign-in activity", detailing the device and location of the sign-in attempt. If you receive this when you are logging in, you can be sure that your account is secure - the verification message lets you know that you have successfully authenticated your account. You will not receive this message if you are not prompted to use MFA.
If you receive this message at a time when you're not logging into your account, it's possible that someone else is trying to access your account. In that case, we recommend that you change your password now and update your MFA verification options. You can also review the list of devices that have been used to sign into your account by visiting the My Devices page at https://login.beloit.edu - see the links below for more information.
